World Cup Chengdu: ecco gli azzurri al via in Cina nel weekend

Nel fine settimana del 5-6 maggio, ritorna la Coppa del Mondo di Triathlon che tra un mese farà tappa in Italia, a Cagliari (2 giugno). Un intenso weekend di gare in Cina, a Chengdu (capoluogo della provincia del Sichuan, situata nel sud-ovest della Cina), per un importante test internazionale che vedrà gli azzurri impegnati su due turni, la semifinale su distanza sprint al sabato e la finale su distanza super sprint alla domenica.


Su comunicazione dell’Olympic Performance Director, Joel Filliol, parteciperanno all'imminente tappa di World Cup Gregory Barnaby (707), Gianluca Pozzatti (707) e Giorgia Priarone (707) mentre risultano iscritti a titolo personale Davide Uccellari (G.S. Fiamme Azzurre) e Tommaso Crivellaro (Pro Patria Milano). Durante la trasferta cinese, gli atleti saranno supportati dallo staff composto da Francesco Fissore (Performance Manager) e Matteo Santoli (Fisioterapista).


Come anticipato, il turno di semifinale (sabato, vedi programma dettagliato) sarà disputato su distanza sprint: per la frazione di nuoto sono previsti 2 giri da 375 metri, per il ciclismo 3 giri da 6.67 km e per la corsa 2 tornate a 2.5 km. Finale (domenica) su distanza ridotta, leggermente superiore a quella prevista per le frazioni della Mixed Relay: 500 metri di nuoto (1 giro da 375 metri + 1 giro di 125 metri), 10.2 km di ciclismo (3 giri da 3.4 km con qualche scollinamento e diverse curve strette), 2.5 km di corsa (2 giri da 1.25 km).

Chengdu to host multi-race showdown as part of the World Cup series


 


CHENGDU, CHINA - Chengdu, China, is the next stop on the ITU World Cup circuit and will host the first multi-race format of the year this weekend. 


In a semi-final elimination round, athletes will complete a sprint-distance course, which is made up of a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike and 5-kilometre run. The men’s field will have a total of three semi-final rounds where the top nine men from each round will qualify for the finals, followed by the next top three fastest combined times to create a total of 30 men for the “A” Final start list.


For the women, two heats will occur with the top 14 finishers from both rounds combined with the next two fastest times will create the 30-woman “A” Final roster. In both genders the athletes with the time of 31st to 60th position in the semi-finals will qualify for the “B” Finals.


The finals will then cover a super sprint-distance format, which will see the athletes compete in a 400-metre swim, 10-kilometre bike and 2.5-kilometre run to crown the overall champions.Both fields are stacked with Olympians, world class experience and it’s sure to be a thrilling weekend of racing action.
