Gli Azzurrini sono in partenza per Buenos Aires (Arg), sede degli imminenti Giochi Olimpici Giovanili che andranno in scena dal 6 al 18 ottobre. Per quanto riguarda il triathlon, sono Chiara Lobba (Triathlon Rari Nantes Marostica) e Alessio Crociani (Triathlon Team Riccione) gli atleti selezionati per la terza edizione degli YOG: i due atleti hanno conquistato questa importante opportunità nella prova di qualificazione continentale di Banyoles in cui Chiara si è imposta nella prova femminile e Alessio si è classificato 5°. Gli azzurrini, che partiranno per l'Argentina lunedì primo ottobre e faranno rientro il 13, saranno supportati dal tecnico Tommaso Dusi.

"Come più volte ricordato è fondamentale dare agli YOG una funzione appropriata nell’ambito del programma di sviluppo - spiega Alessandro Bottoni, Direttore Tecnico Giovanile - L’approccio verso gli YOG è stato quello di utilizzarli come un ulteriore strumento di crescita per un gruppo ampio di atleti. In questo modo, sono stati numerosi gli atleti coinvolti a partire dal 2017, favoritinon tanto per la possibilità di competere agli YOG, ma in quanto partecipanti al programma YOG, ovvero a tutte le sue opportunità di sviluppo, come parte integrante del Programma di Sviluppo già pubblicato. Per Chiara, Alessio e tutti gli altri giovani coinvolti il processo di sviluppo è appena iniziato, sarà lungo e ricco di opportunità, attraverso le esposizioni ai processi di crescita personale guidati dal programma di sviluppo. In questa ottica il contributo dato dai tecnici e soprattutto dalle famiglie è fondamentale. È importante riconoscere che entrambi i due atleti qualificati per Buenos Aires, come anche quelli della squadra portata a Banyoles nella prova di qualificazione, provengono da realtà strutturate del settore giovanile - sottolinea Bottoni - è opportuno quindi utilizzare questa occasione per rendere merito al lavoro quotidiano svolto dalla Rari Nantes Marostica con i tecnici Eros Veneziane Roberto Merlo e dal Triathlon Riccione con il tecnico Massimo Strada, proprio perché in questi contesti viene data priorità alle esigenze di sviluppo a lungo termine e non al successo precoce".
Everything you need to know about the Buenos Aires YOG
In only a week time, the Olympic movement arrives to Argentina to achieve the most important multi-sport and cultural event in the last few years. And 64 young triathletes, aged 16 and 17, from 44 countries, will be competing in the three triathlon events -Male, Female and Mixed Relay- at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, to once again shine a light on the next generation of talented athletes set to grace the sport in the years to come. For twelve days, 4.000 athletes from all over the world will participate in 32 sports and 36 disciplines in a unique event which will include 241 medal events and over two hundred eighty competition sessions. As with previous editions of the Youth Olympic Games, Buenos Aires 2018 will encourage the development of young athletes and the community, it will reach and engage with young people around the world interactively and build a lasting legacy that will benefit society as a whole. Also, for the first time in the Olympic Movement, there will be gender equality among participating athletes. The Triathlon events will be held at Bosques de Palermo, inside Green Park, starting at a pontoon inside the lake. The young triathletes will then go for a une lap swim of 750m in Regatas lake, followed by four laps on a 4.853m cycling course (total distance: 19.412m) taking Andres Bello Street, turning on Torquinst Street, going up on Alsina Avenue, up Los Ombues Street, and back to Andres Bello until transition zone. Finnaly, the triathletes will do two laps on a 2.5km running course (total distance 5km) along the lake, to finish inside the Green Park cheered by thousands of spectators that will have the chance of enjoying triathlon at its best live. For the Mixed Relay event, teams will be formed by 4 athletes who will compete in the following order: woman, man, woman, man. Each of them will cover a complete a supersprint triathlon with a 300m open water swim, 8km bike and 1.5 km run. Since the maximum number of athletes competing per country is twfemale male, one famela-, at the YOG teams will be formed by Continent, with the first 2 male and first 2 female athletes finishing in the individual events from Europe forming Team Europe I, and athletes 3rd and 4oth of each gender from the same continent forming Team Europe II.
